I am a menopause and nervous system specialist with over a decade of clinical experience helping midlife women navigate the perimenopause transition with less stress and more confidence.

My story

I Understand What It Feels Like To Lose Yourself In The Menopause Transition.

For nearly 20 years during my own menopause transition, I struggled with severe insomnia. For many years I slept only 20 minutes each night.

By day I was tired and irritable — snapping at my kids and blaming my husband for everything. I would forget entire presentations and resort to reading my PowerPoint. I struggled to remember words I used every day and faces I saw every day.

My mom had dementia, and I was terrified the same thing was happening to me.

At the time I was working as a Nutritionist and Health Coach helping others optimize their health — yet I couldn’t solve this for myself, no matter how hard I tried.

Everything changed once I discovered mindfulness-based stress reduction tools.

As I developed awareness, I could recognise the early signs of the Stress Response in my body – the shallow breathing, the clenching jaw, muscle tension, racing thoughts.

Then I noticed the behaviour patterns that showed up when I was under stress (Hello Control and Blame) and I learned to hold this with self-kindness.

Most importantly, I discovered that I could voluntarily move myself out of my habitual Stress Response and into the Relaxation Response.

Without the cortisol activation in the middle of the night, my sleep transformed. Today I sleep 8-9 hours most nights, and if I wake at 3am I can return to sleep within minutes. Of course, improved memory and stress resilience followed.
